The BBC, which provided extensive coverage of the events in Egypt, has been removed from the Cable Television network.
Watching the BBC, which was previously part of the Azerbaijan Cable Television network, has been made more difficult. Azerbaijani newspaper Azadliq writes that the government is afraid of the BBC’s coverage of the revolution.
KaTV, which is a monopoly in Azerbaijani cable television, has transferred the BBC from ordinary to digital broadcasts. The frequency which previously broadcast the BBC is now taken by the “Culture” channel. From here on in, those who wish to watch the BBC will need to install new technology, costing an additional 40 AZN (1AZN = 1.2 USD).
